I’m building a data collection form with Zapier Interfaces that needs to handle confidential files and sensitive user data.
After setting up my form, I configured it to save responses directly to a Zapier table. During my testing phase, I discovered that any files uploaded through the form get stored on a content delivery network with publicly accessible URLs. This creates a major security concern for my use case.
What options do I have within Zapier tables to make these file links private and secure? Are there alternative methods or integrations that would provide better protection for confidential document storage while still working with Zapier workflows?
Had this exact problem last year building a client intake system. Zapier tables aren’t meant for secure file storage - anyone with the CDN link can access your files. Here’s what worked for me: collect the initial data through Zapier Interfaces, then auto-trigger a workflow that moves files to Box or OneDrive with proper security. You could also try encrypted cloud storage that plays nice with Zapier. It’s more complex, but you need it for confidential stuff. Or skip file uploads on the main form entirely and use a separate secure portal after they submit the basic data.
totally agree! using zapier for sensitive stuff can be risky. google drive or dropbox def have better security. plus, they integrate nicely, so you can keep things smooth in your workflows. safer bet for sure!
Having faced a similar issue with sensitive data in Zapier Interfaces, I understand the concern regarding public CDN URLs. To address this, I integrated Google Drive with Zapier. Files uploaded through the form are automatically transferred to a secure folder on Drive, where permissions limit access. I then store the secure link in the Zapier table while deleting the original file. For even greater security, using private buckets in AWS S3 may be a better option, though it requires additional setup via webhooks or the AWS integration.
