BetaKit Town Hall: Shopify leader urges Canada to aim higher than bronze

Hey everyone,

I just watched the BetaKit Town Hall and something really caught my attention. The Shopify CEO made a pretty bold statement about Canada’s business culture. He thinks we’re too comfortable settling for third place.

What do you guys think about this? Is there any truth to it? I’m curious to hear from other Canadian entrepreneurs or business folks. Do you feel like there’s a ‘good enough’ attitude holding us back?

Maybe we could chat about ways to change this mindset if it’s really a problem. Or if you disagree, I’d love to hear why.

Let’s get a discussion going!

yeah, i’ve noticed that too. seems like we’re often content with just being ‘okay’ instead of pushing for excellence. maybe it’s our politeness holding us back? we need to get a bit more ambitious and take some risks. what if we had more programs encouraging entrepreneurship in schools? could help shift the mindset early on.
