I’m trying to evaluate whether we should stay with Make or move to something else, and I want to get the financial comparison right before we commit to anything.
The challenge is that Make and Zapier price differently. Zapier charges per task, Make charges per operation, and the platform I’m looking at charges by execution time. As soon as I try to model this in a spreadsheet, the assumptions start falling apart because I’m making guesses about operation counts and task volumes.

Also, the speed advantage is real. We went from three weeks of Make vs. Zapier analysis paralysis to a testable prototype in two days. That alone was worth it.
Visual builders work for prototyping if you treat the prototype as a real test, not a demo. We rebuilt one of our main workflows and ran it against our actual production data set. The cost calculations matched within about 10%, which was close enough for decision-making.
