Cost-wise, autonomous agents are economical for scale operations. The amortized setup cost decreases as volume increases. At low volumes or highly variable workflows, traditional automation with human oversight remains more cost-effective.
Autonomous agents work great for high-volume, routine tasks. Exceptions still need humans. Setup takes time. ROI arrives around month 3-4 for well-scoped processes.
