I’ve been using chat models from OpenAI and I’ve found a lot of plugins that enhance the AI’s capabilities, like browsing the web and running code. These tools really improve the interaction quality.
Now, I’m curious. If I transition to Azure’s version of OpenAI, will I still be able to use these plugins? My company is moving towards Azure, but I don’t want to miss out on the added features I’m familiar with.
Has anyone had experience with both platforms? Are there notable differences in the available plugins or their functionality?
totally agree! Azure’s got some cool features, but yeah, it can feel a bit stripped down compared to the full OpenAI experience. maybe check out their docs or forum for updates on plugins? could be some hidden gems there too!
I’ve worked with both platforms, and Azure OpenAI is way more locked down since it’s enterprise-focused. You won’t get those web browsing and code execution plugins like you do with regular OpenAI. But Azure makes up for it with solid integration options - you can build custom stuff using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or Power Platform to get the same results. It’s basically convenience vs. security. OpenAI gives you plug-and-play plugins, while Azure gives you enterprise-grade security and compliance. If your company cares more about data governance and plays nice with Microsoft services, Azure OpenAI is still worth switching to even without all the ready-made plugins.
