We currently use various tools for our workflow: Jira for projects, Slack for communication, Zoom for meetings, and Google Workspace for our productivity needs. We rely on Notion for documentation and use AWS for some storage needs.
We’re exploring Jira Service Manager and Assets to manage our IT assets.
ChatGPT suggested that Jira may only serve as a basic ITAM tool and recommended looking into ServiceNow.
How would you integrate and structure these tools within a company? Are there other ITAM solutions you would recommend?
I’m in urgent need of a solid IT asset management tool for hardware, software, and licenses to help us stay organized.
I’ve been in your shoes, trying to wrangle all our IT assets and services into one system. Jira’s great for project management, but for full-on ITAM? It’s like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
We tried Jira Assets for a while, but it just couldn’t keep up with our growing inventory. Eventually, we bit the bullet and went with Lansweeper. It’s been a game-changer for us. Automatically discovers and tracks hardware and software, manages licenses, and even helps with compliance audits. The reporting features are top-notch too.
Integration-wise, it plays nice with most of the tools you mentioned. We’ve got it hooked up to Slack for alerts and it pulls data from our Google Workspace without a hitch. Might be worth a look if you’re after something more robust than what Jira offers.
Just my two cents based on what we’ve been through. Whatever you choose, make sure it can grow with your needs. Good luck!
jira can work for basic asset tracking, but it might not cut it for full ITAM. have u looked at ManageEngine? heard good things bout their asset management stuff. could be worth checkin out if you need something more robust than jira assets. just my 2 cents
While Jira can handle basic asset tracking, it may fall short for comprehensive ITAM needs. Have you considered Freshservice? It offers a good balance between ITSM and ITAM capabilities, integrating well with various tools. It’s user-friendly and provides solid asset lifecycle management features.
For your specific needs, Freshservice could be a good fit. It handles hardware, software, and license management effectively. Plus, it integrates well with many of the tools you’re already using, like Slack and Google Workspace.
If you’re set on sticking with Atlassian products, you might want to look into Insight for Jira. It’s an add-on that enhances Jira’s asset management capabilities significantly. It might bridge the gap between what Jira offers out-of-the-box and what you need for robust ITAM.
