I rolled a ready-made template into production for a contractor onboarding process last year. The template covered the common steps: welcome email, account provisioning requests, and an equipment checklist. I had to augment it with two things. First, I added idempotency checks and additional logging to satisfy our compliance team. Second, I created a small sub-scenario to handle delayed approvals — managers who did not respond after 72 hours triggered escalation. Those additions were small JS hooks and extra branching in the template. The big lesson: templates accelerate delivery, but productionizing for HR requires you to add clear checkpoints, audits, and escalation policies. That effort is usually much smaller than building the flow from scratch.
