Can you actually turn plain language descriptions into production workflows, or do you end up rewriting everything anyway?

We’re evaluating moving away from Camunda, and one of the platforms we’re looking at has this AI copilot feature that generates workflows from plain text descriptions. In theory, it sounds amazing—describe what you need in a Slack message, get a working workflow back. But I’m skeptical.

In our experience, requirements gathering alone takes forever, and then developers have to translate that into actual orchestration logic. Adding an AI layer that’s supposed to do that automatically feels like it could work, but I’m wondering if the generated workflows are actually deployable or if they need heavy rework.

Has anyone here actually used a copilot workflow generator? How close to production-ready are the outputs? Do you still end up spending days or weeks tweaking the generated workflows, or can you really just deploy them?

I’m especially curious about edge cases—what happens when the plain language requirement is ambiguous, or when the workflow needs to handle multiple system integrations that weren’t explicitly mentioned in the description?
