Discord bot for VATSIM controller notifications?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for a Discord bot that can send alerts when ATC controllers come online on VATSIM. I want to track certain control areas for my virtual airline. I know I could check the regional Discord servers, but I’d prefer to have these updates in our own server.

I tried using VatNotif and similar tools before, but they don’t seem to work anymore. Has anyone found a working solution for this? Any recommendations would be great.

Thanks in advance!

VATNotif still works for me, but I had to reinstall it after some API changes. Make sure you grab the latest version from their GitHub releases - don’t use the old one floating around. I’ve been running it for three months tracking EGLL and KJFK controllers without issues. The config’s a bit tricky though - get the FIR codes wrong and it won’t pull data. Also check your firewall isn’t blocking VATSIM connections. If you can’t get it working, custom bots using the VATSIM API are supposed to be good, but you’ll need coding skills.

Honestly, just use VATAware. It’s way simpler than the other options - no setup hassle. Just add your ICAO codes and you’re done, notifications work perfectly. I’ve been using it for months to track EGKK and EDDF controllers for our VA. Sometimes there’s a slight delay but it usually works fine. Much better than trying to fix broken bots.

I’ve used the VATSIM Discord Bot by FlightEvents for six months now - works great. Setup’s pretty straightforward through their web interface. You pick which airports or FIRs to monitor, and it’ll ping your channel when controllers log in or out. Yeah, it goes down sometimes when VATSIM’s data feed acts up, but that’s rare. Perfect for our virtual airline. Just invite the bot to your server and give it posting permissions for whatever channel you want. The notifications are clean too - shows callsign, position, and login time. Really helps with coordinating flights.
