I recently added the Optimizely plugin to my WordPress website and now I’m having issues with my Download Monitor shortcodes. All my download links that were working before just vanished from my posts.
The shortcodes I’m using look like this: [download id="3456"]
I thought maybe the new plugin was causing conflicts so I disabled Optimizely but the problem persists. My download shortcodes still don’t show up. What’s strange is that Optimizely also uses shortcodes and those work fine.
I’m wondering if some WordPress setting got modified during the installation process. Has anyone experienced similar issues where one plugin’s shortcodes stop working after installing another plugin? Where should I start troubleshooting this problem?
I also tested other shortcodes on my site and they seem to work normally, so it appears to be specific to Download Monitor.
Weird timing - same thing happened to me last month. Optimizely probably left some hooks behind even after you deactivated it. Switch to a default theme temporarily and test your download shortcodes. Sometimes plugins mess with functions.php and break things. Also double-check your downloads are actually published in the backend, not just sitting there.
This sounds like a database registration issue, not a plugin conflict. Some plugins mess with WordPress shortcode callbacks even after you deactivate them. I had the same thing happen with a caching plugin that broke my shortcodes. Check your Download Monitor files in wp-content/plugins to make sure nothing got corrupted during install. Also verify your download entries are still there in WordPress admin under Downloads. If the entries exist but shortcodes won’t render, try clearing any object cache or look for orphaned database entries. You might need to reinstall the plugin completely to get the shortcode handlers working again.
I faced a similar issue where my Download Monitor shortcodes stopped displaying correctly after installing a new plugin. Initially, I thought it was a conflict, but I discovered it was due to the settings within the Download Monitor plugin itself. Deactivating and reactivating the plugin resolved the issue, refreshing the shortcode registrations. Additionally, ensure that your WordPress and Download Monitor versions are updated, as compatibility can sometimes cause problems. If your files are intact, consider creating a new shortcode manually to test if the problem persists across all downloads.
