External partners unable to see left navigation in shared Google Drive folder

Problem with Shared Google Drive Access

I recently shared our corporate Google Drive folder with one of our suppliers, but they’ve encountered an issue. When they access the folder, the left sidebar doesn’t show up at all. This lack of visibility prevents them from uploading new files into the folder.

Typically, the left panel contains various options, including file creation and document uploads. Without this feature, they’re unable to participate fully in our collaborative workspace.

Has anyone faced a similar situation when sharing Google Drive folders with people outside the organization? What might be causing the left sidebar to not appear for them?

Had this exact issue last year with a client. They were clicking a direct link to the shared folder instead of actually adding it to their Drive. When people use direct links, Google shows a stripped-down view without the full sidebar and tools. Tell your supplier to hit “Add to My Drive” when they first open the folder, or send them a proper share invite with editor permissions. Once it’s in their Drive, they’ll get the full interface and can upload normally.

u might wanna check their access level. if they’re only viewers, then the sidebar won’t show, right? also, ensure they’re using the correct google acc. could make a diff!
