Facebook's parent company quickly attempts to eliminate AI accounts amid user outrage

I’ve been paying attention to the news about how Facebook’s parent company is hurrying to take down their AI-based accounts after receiving significant backlash from users. They introduced these automated profiles on their platforms, but the negative response was unexpected.

It seems these AI accounts were designed to engage with users and offer services, but many felt misled when they discovered they weren’t interacting with real people. The backlash was so severe that the company had to act fast to delete these profiles.

Has anyone else seen these AI accounts vanishing from their timelines? I’m interested in what led to such a strong reaction from the community. Were these bots poorly constructed, or was it mostly about the lack of clear communication about them being artificial?

I’m curious if this situation will influence how other technology firms implement AI on social media in the future.

honestly wasn’t surprised this happened. meta rushed these ai profiles without thinking about how creepy it’d feel chatting with fake people who look real. i saw a few disappear from my feed last week - kinda relieved tbh. more transparency would’ve helped a lot here.
