Google Spreadsheet Access Restricted - How to Get Permission

Hello fellow community members,

We had to make our shared document for tracking application timelines private. The spreadsheet is no longer open for everyone to view. Now you need to be signed into Google and get permission from us to see it.

Why did we do this? People kept messing with the data and deleting important information. Also, some news reporters found our sheet and we’re worried about privacy issues. With all the negative feelings toward immigrants lately, we want to keep everyone’s personal details safe.

Want access to the document? Here’s what to do:

  1. Go to the spreadsheet link.
  2. Click the ‘Request access’ button.
  3. Send me a private message on Reddit with either your name or email from your Google account.

I’ll give you access once I match your message with your request. You MUST send me a message after requesting access. There are bad people trying to get in, so requests without messages will be rejected.

Important: Your Google account name will show up to other users. If you want to stay anonymous, make a new Google account just for this.

Don’t want to join but want your info removed? Message me with your name and application date from the sheet. I can delete it or make it anonymous.

New here? You can still request access and add your information. Just follow the steps above.

Sorry for this sudden change. We know many of you use this sheet to track progress and estimate wait times. We don’t like making it harder to access, but with over 1,600 entries now, we need better security.

Makes sense given what’s been happening. The data quality has gone downhill - incomplete entries everywhere and tons of spam. The media attention thing is really concerning since immigration stuff is sensitive and people should control who sees their info. I’ve been using this sheet to track my case for months and it’s been super helpful for timeline estimates. I’ll definitely go through verification to keep access. Thanks for doing the manual reviews instead of just shutting the whole thing down.

Makes total sense with all the recent drama. I saw some sketchy edits a few weeks ago and figured security might become a problem. The reporter situation is definitely worrying - our data shouldn’t be sitting out there for anyone to grab. I’ve used this spreadsheet for months to track my timeline and it’s been super helpful. I’ll request access the right way and send you that PM. Thanks for dealing with all this extra work to keep things secure.

totally feel you on this one! privacy is key, especially with all the craziness. I’ll follow your steps and shoot you a message too. big thanks for keeping this resource safe for us!
