I’m trying to figure out how to remove page breaks from my Google Docs document so I can have one long continuous page instead of multiple pages. The page breaks are really annoying and they mess up my document layout in weird ways. For instance, when I create tables that span across page boundaries, any footnotes I add end up breaking the table structure which looks terrible. Since I never plan to print these documents anyway, I just want to get rid of the pagination completely. Is there a way to switch to a continuous scrolling view without these page divisions? I tried looking for settings but couldn’t find anything obvious that would disable this feature.
This page break issue drives me crazy too! You can’t completely disable pagination in Google Docs, but I found a workaround that helps a lot. Switch to Web layout view from the View menu instead of Print layout. This gets rid of those visual page breaks and gives you a continuous editing experience. The document still has pages behind the scenes, but you won’t see those annoying white gaps anymore. Tables that span multiple sections work way better in this view, and footnotes don’t act as weird. Web layout’s been around forever but most people miss it since Print layout is the default.
totally get ur frustration! unfortunetly, google docs is set up for printing so it does stick to that layout. if u want infinite scrolling, maybe look into notepad or propose using alternative tools like notion. hope this helps!
Google Docs doesn’t let you turn off pagination completely. It’s built around traditional page breaks and there’s no continuous scrolling option - I’ve been using it for years and this hasn’t changed. Here’s what works: go to File > Page setup and make the page way bigger. Try something like 8.5 x 50 inches to create much longer pages. Won’t eliminate page breaks entirely but cuts down interruptions big time. If you want truly continuous writing without page limits, try Google Keep for notes or check out Notion or Obsidian - they have infinite canvas features.
