How to suggest new features to Spotify developers

I’ve been using Spotify for a while now and have some ideas that could make the app better. I want to know the proper way to send my suggestions to their development team. Is there an official channel or form where users can submit ideas for new features? I’ve looked around their website but can’t find a clear way to do this. Has anyone here successfully submitted feature requests to Spotify before? What’s the best approach to get their attention and make sure my suggestions are actually considered by the right people?

Spotify currently lacks a dedicated feature request portal, which can be frustrating for users. The most effective way to suggest new features is through their Community forum, specifically in the “Idea Submissions” section. Before submitting, it’s advisable to search for similar ideas as they tend to merge duplicate entries. While reaching out on Twitter can sometimes generate attention for your idea, direct responses from Spotify are uncommon. In my experience, I submitted a request related to playlist organization two years ago. Although they didn’t adopt my exact suggestion, a similar feature was eventually implemented. When proposing a feature, be sure to clearly articulate its benefits and functionality. Strong community support can significantly impact the likelihood of your suggestion being considered.

community forums are pretty hit or miss. I’ve had way better luck just tweeting @spotifycares directly - they actually respond and might push your idea up the chain. you could also email support. I know it’s not meant for feature requests, but they say they pass feedback to the dev team.

Having experience in software development, I can share that using the Community forum is indeed effective, but there’s a catch—suggestions need early traction to avoid being overlooked. When you propose your idea, rally friends to support and upvote right away; this can significantly increase its visibility. Additionally, focus on how your suggestion would enhance user engagement or retention, as Spotify is driven by business objectives. I submitted an offline playlist sharing concept a while back that gathered some interest but ultimately was sidelined, likely because it didn’t align with profitability. Many user ideas fade away, but those addressing widespread issues often gain traction.
