How to switch back to classic JIRA interface from new version?

I’ve been using JIRA for several years now as a QA professional and I’m really struggling with the latest interface update. The new design feels clunky and hard to navigate compared to what we had before. The icons look weird and everything seems too spread out on the screen. Is there any way to go back to the previous UI version? I know some tools let you toggle between old and new interfaces. Has anyone found a setting or workaround to use the classic view? The new layout is really slowing down my workflow and I’m sure other users feel the same way. Would love to hear if Atlassian has any plans to bring back the old design or at least give us more customization options.

yeah, it’s a bummer! atlassian made the switch pretty much permanent. can’t revert back like before. maybe your admin can help, but most won’t for security stuff. hang in there!

I feel your pain on this one. Been dealing with the same issue since our team got forced into the new interface about 6 months ago. Unfortunately there’s no official way to revert anymore - Atlassian pulled that option completely. What helped me adjust was customizing the dashboard layout and hiding some of the unnecessary panels that make everything feel so cluttered. You can still modify which fields show up on your issue views and create custom filters that mimic some of the old workflow. It’s not perfect but makes things somewhat more manageable. The spacing issue you mentioned really bothered me too, but I found that zooming the browser to 110% actually helps with the layout density. Not ideal but it’s something while we’re all stuck with this interface.

Unfortunately, Atlassian discontinued the ability to switch back to the classic interface in recent versions. The toggle option that existed previously has been completely removed from the system settings. I went through the same frustration when our company upgraded last year - spent hours looking through every configuration menu hoping to find a way back. The only potential workaround I’ve seen is if your organization is still on an older JIRA version that supports the legacy interface, but most installations have been forced to update for security patches. Your best bet might be to reach out to your JIRA administrator to see if they have any browser extensions or custom CSS modifications that can help improve the interface experience, though these solutions are limited and not officially supported.
