I’m thinking about making a major career change and would love some advice. Currently working as a data analyst for a startup in Australia where I’ve been using HubSpot for the past 8 months or so. This was my first real experience with any CRM platform and I’ve gotten pretty deep into it during my time here.
My daily work involves analyzing email campaign results, setting up various automation sequences and workflows, plus tons of data cleanup and reconciliation tasks. I’ve also become the go-to person for lifecycle stage management and consider myself to have solid intermediate HubSpot skills.
While I’m not at consultant level yet, I often guide our HubSpot administrator and our CRM manager relies on me to handle most platform tasks. With my business background and sales experience, I believe I could successfully pitch services to potential clients.
For more advanced technical work like complex integrations or sophisticated workflows, I’m confident I could partner with skilled developers from overseas markets to keep costs competitive while delivering quality results.
My current salary is around $4500 monthly in Melbourne but I’m only managing to save about $500 each month which feels pretty limiting. I’m considering moving back to my home country and starting a HubSpot agency. Even with just 2-3 monthly retainer clients, I could potentially have a better quality of life and save more money.
Has anyone made a similar transition? What are your thoughts on this plan?
