I’ve been using the new Figma UI for a while now, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. The floating panel seems to get in the way, and I’m having trouble finding my assets quickly.
Has anyone else noticed Figma making some odd choices lately? I’m curious if this is related to the Adobe deal falling through. Maybe I’m just being impatient, and it’ll grow on me eventually.
In the meantime, I find myself using other tools more often. I’m doing more coding and using Sketch and Illustrator for design work. Figma’s prototyping was never great anyway.
What do you all think? Am I overreacting, or is this new interface really a step backward?
yeah, i feel ya. the new UI’s been a bit of a headache for me too. that floating panel is like a needy puppy, always in the way. but i’m tryin to give it a chance, ya know? been playin around with the settings and it’s gettin better. still miss the old layout tho. fingers crossed they’ll tweak it soon
I’ve been using Figma for years, and I must say the new interface has its pros and cons. While the floating panel can be disruptive at first, I’ve found it improves my workflow once I got used to it. The key is customizing it to your needs. That said, asset management could use some improvement. I’ve started using plugins to streamline this process, which has helped considerably. As for other tools, I still find Figma’s collaborative features unmatched. It’s worth giving it some time and exploring its full potential before jumping ship. Remember, significant UI changes often have a learning curve.
nah, i get u. the new UI’s been buggin me too. that floaty panel is like a fly u cant swat away lol. but maybe we’re just not used to it yet? idk, i’m stickin with figma for now cuz my team uses it. gotta admit tho, i’ve been eyein other tools lately. guess we’ll see how it goes
I hear ya on the new Figma interface. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag for me too. At first, I was pretty frustrated with the changes, especially that floating panel. But after forcing myself to use it for a couple weeks, I’ve started to see some benefits.
One thing that’s helped is customizing the heck out of it. I’ve rearranged the panels and tweaked the settings to fit my workflow better. Still not perfect, but it’s getting there.
As for asset management, yeah, it’s still a pain point. I’ve started using more keyboard shortcuts and creating custom libraries to speed things up. It’s not ideal, but it’s a workaround for now.
I’m sticking with Figma for the time being, mainly because of the collaboration features. But I’m definitely keeping an eye on alternatives. Who knows, maybe Figma will listen to user feedback and make some improvements in the next update.
