Looking for a Node.js package that handles Nepali date system

Hey everyone! I’m currently working on a student information system project and I need to implement Nepali calendar functionality. I’ve been searching around but I’m not sure which npm package would be the best choice for handling Nepali dates and calendar operations. The system needs to display dates in the Nepali format and possibly convert between Gregorian and Nepali calendars. Has anyone worked with similar requirements before? I would really appreciate any recommendations for reliable packages that can handle this. Thanks in advance for your help!

Had the same issue on a government project recently. Tried a bunch of options and nepali-date ended up being solid for what we needed. Documentation’s not great, but it gets the job done for student systems. Pro tip - validate dates on both frontend and backend. Nepali calendar has weird month-end edge cases that’ll break your conversions if you’re not careful. Package handles the basics well: current Nepali date, formatting, basic math operations. Performance was fine even with tons of student records. Just make sure you’ve got proper error handling - invalid date combos will throw exceptions and crash your app if you don’t catch them.

I built something similar for a local school management system last year. Tried a bunch of options and settled on ‘nepali-date-converter’ - it’s solid for basic AD/BS conversions. But if you need more calendar features, check out ‘bikram-sambat’ too. It handles date formatting and manipulation way better. Watch out for edge cases with historical dates though - some packages break on certain years, so test across multiple date ranges. Also make sure the package is actively maintained since a lot of Nepali date libraries are pretty stale. For student systems, you’ll probably need both conversion and proper BS formatting for academic years and admission dates.

i tried bikram-sambat-js too, it’s quick and makes converting easy! just double check your inputs though, nepali dates can get messy with leap years. good luck with your project, sounds fun!
