Mac keyboard shortcut for fixing typos in Google Docs?

I’m trying to find a faster way to fix spelling mistakes in Google Docs on my Mac. Right now I have to hover over the red underlined word, right click it, and then pick the suggested correction from the menu.

This gets really slow when I’m typing fast and make lots of typos. I was hoping there might be a keyboard shortcut that lets me quickly accept Google’s first spelling suggestion without using the mouse at all.

Does anyone know if this feature exists? I’ve looked through the keyboard shortcuts list but couldn’t find anything related to spell check corrections.

Google Docs doesn’t have a direct shortcut to accept the first spelling suggestion - pretty annoying compared to other word processors. But here’s a workaround that beats right-clicking constantly: hit Cmd+Option+X to open the spell check dialog. You can cycle through misspelled words and accept corrections with spacebar or Enter. Not perfect since it goes through all errors instead of just the one you want, but at least you stay on the keyboard. If you need this feature a lot, consider switching to desktop Word - it’s got way better keyboard navigation for spell check.

sucks there’s no shortcut for that! i use cmd+; too, but it’s still a pain. wish google docs would just make it easier for us, right?

Here’s another trick - turn on autocorrect in Google Docs. Hit Tools > Preferences and check “Automatically correct spelling”. Won’t catch everything, but it’ll fix tons of common typos without you doing anything. For the red squiggles that are left, I use arrow keys to get to the word, then right-click. Way faster than grabbing the mouse every time. Not the perfect keyboard shortcut you want, but autocorrect plus staying on the keyboard has made my editing way quicker.
