Meta's recent hiring spree from OpenAI vs zero hires from Anthropic shows which AI company is really winning

I’ve been observing the ongoing competition for AI talent, and one thing is clear. Meta has successfully poached around 10 key researchers from OpenAI, yet they haven’t managed to recruit anyone from Anthropic. This discrepancy speaks volumes about the current dynamics in these companies.

Anthropic has maintained a strong team with very little turnover over the years, led by a capable CEO. They concentrate on their strengths instead of attempting numerous unrelated projects like some other companies do. Their coding skills are unparalleled, and they provide the most effective AI assistant available.

When we consider AGI as an AI that can autonomously tackle intricate, long-term tasks, Anthropic appears to be leading the way. They might be the biggest competition for Google at the moment.

However, they could be hindered by an excessive focus on AI safety, and some team members can come off as overly confident, believing they know what users need better than the users themselves.

Regarding Meta, I doubt that merely employing a team of mercenaries without a solid long-term strategy will lead to success. It’s challenging to create something significant without a clear vision.

i think ur overthinking this hiring thing. peeps switch companies all the time - it doesn’t show whos winning. anthro being selective just means they’re picky, not that they can’t be matched. meta’s got loads of cash and clear ai goals, so it makes sense they wanna snatch talent.
