I found the earlier documentation straightforward, unlike the current V2 documentation, which feels a bit overwhelming to navigate. I’m struggling to adapt my existing setup to the new system.
Same headache here when I migrated last year. The big gotcha everyone’s missing is that V2 completely killed inlink search - that’s why your backlink queries are broken. Yahoo only does web and image search now in V2. I had to switch to Majestic or Ahrefs for backlink data since BOSS V2 doesn’t have that endpoint anymore. If you’re stuck on Yahoo’s platform, you’ll need to completely rethink this since inlinks are gone. Honestly, skip the migration headache and just look at other backlink APIs.
Yeah, V2 completely changed the endpoint structure. Your old URLs won’t work - they restructured everything. I had to update to the new base URL format and add proper auth headers when I migrated mine. They changed the parameter names and response format too. Had to rewrite most of my parsing since the XML structure’s totally different now. The docs are confusing as hell - took me several tries to get it working. Start with their basic examples before porting your existing code. The auth flow alone was a pain to figure out.
totally agree, migrating to v2 is rough. now you gotta use OAuth for auth, and everything’s different. make sure to add the OAuth headers too. a lot of folks found it tough, maybe look at other APIs if it’s just backlinks you’re after.
