I’m having trouble using a Google Drive app with different accounts. It’s really frustrating. The app needs to be installed for each user separately, but Chrome Web Store thinks it’s already there for everyone.
Here’s what happens:
I install the app with one account. It works fine.
I switch to another account.
The app says it’s not installed, but Chrome Web Store says it is.
I have to uninstall and reinstall for each new account.
This is super confusing for users. Is this how it’s supposed to work? Or is there a better way to handle multiple accounts with Google Drive apps?
I tried this with a graphing calculator app, but I guess it could happen with any Google Drive app. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any tips on how to make it smoother for users?
I’ve encountered this issue as well, and it’s indeed a significant limitation of Google Drive apps. One potential solution I’ve found effective is utilizing Chrome’s incognito mode for different accounts. This approach allows you to access the app with separate instances for each account without the need for constant reinstallation. While it’s not an ideal long-term fix, it can serve as a temporary workaround until Google addresses this problem. It’s worth noting that this issue highlights a broader need for improved multi-account support across Google’s ecosystem, particularly for educational and business environments where account switching is common.
yeah, i’ve dealt with this headache too. it’s a common issue with google drive apps. one workaround i found is using different browser profiles for each account. it’s not perfect, but it helps keep things separate. google should really fix this tho, it’s super annoying for users.
I’ve been grappling with this exact problem in my workplace. It’s a real pain, especially when managing multiple client accounts. What I’ve found somewhat helpful is using different browsers for different accounts - Chrome for one, Firefox for another, and so on. It’s not elegant, but it does the job.
Another trick that’s worked for me is creating separate OS user profiles on my computer. Each profile is linked to a different Google account. This way, I can quickly switch between ‘work spaces’ without the hassle of constant app reinstallation.
These aren’t perfect solutions, and they don’t address the core issue. Google really needs to step up their game in supporting multi-account setups, especially for business users. Until then, we’re stuck with these clunky workarounds.
