New iPad Pro 11" M4 shows Shopify ownership in Remote Management

I just received my brand new iPad Pro 11" with M4 chip that I ordered straight from Apple’s official website. When I turned it on for the first time, instead of the normal setup screen, it’s showing a Remote Management notification that says the device belongs to Shopify Inc. This is really confusing because I bought it directly from Apple and have no connection to Shopify. The iPad seems to think it’s a corporate device or something. Has anyone experienced this kind of issue before? I’m not sure if this is a mistake on Apple’s end or if there’s something else going on. Should I contact Apple support about this or is there a way to fix it myself?

Same thing happened to me with a MacBook Pro last year. Apple sometimes reuses serial numbers or there’s a database error that links your device to their enterprise program. The Remote Management profile gets pushed automatically when the system thinks it’s a corporate device. Contact Apple Support directly - they can verify your purchase and remove the MDM profile. Don’t try bypassing it yourself since that could mess up activation later. Have your order number and receipt ready when you call. They fixed mine in 20 minutes once I proved I owned it.

Your iPad got enrolled in Apple’s Device Enrollment Program by mistake. This happens when devices get mixed up in Apple’s inventory system or there’s a serial number glitch. I work in IT and we see this with new devices that somehow get flagged as corporate purchases even though they were bought retail. The Remote Management profile gets automatically applied based on what Apple’s system thinks about device ownership. Don’t try removing it yourself - contact Apple Support instead. Bypassing MDM without proper authorization can cause activation issues later. Have your original receipt and order confirmation ready when you call. They’ll verify your purchase history and remove the enrollment profile from their end.

totally understand ur frustation! i think it’s best to reach out to apple support. they should help clear this up. it’s probably just an error, but better to let them handle it since u bought directly from them.
