Hey everyone,
I’m in a bit of a pickle with our Jira and Confluence setup. We’ve got an expired on-prem server version and I need to boost our license count. Our team’s grown to over 250 users, so we’re looking at our options.
I’ve heard a lot about moving to the cloud, but that might mean getting Guard too for our Active Directory setup. Plus, we might need to go for Premium to get enough automation features.
My team can handle the management side, but I’m stumped on the best way to buy. Should I use an Atlassian partner? If so, how do I pick a good one? There are so many!
Oh, and can anyone confirm if Guard works with both Standard and Premium for AD integration? I’m having trouble finding a clear answer on that.
Thanks for any advice you can give!
As someone who’s navigated the Atlassian licensing maze, I’d strongly recommend going with a reputable Atlassian Solution Partner. They’re invaluable for complex setups like yours, especially when transitioning from on-prem to cloud.
For selecting a partner, look at their certifications, case studies, and client testimonials. A good partner should offer a free consultation to assess your needs and provide a tailored solution.
Regarding Guard, it indeed works with both Standard and Premium for AD integration. However, given your user count and automation needs, Premium might be more cost-effective in the long run.
Consider a phased migration approach to minimize disruption. Start with a small group, iron out any issues, then gradually expand. This method helped us tremendously during our own migration.
Lastly, don’t forget to factor in training costs for your team to adapt to the cloud environment. It’s often overlooked but crucial for a smooth transition.
been there, done that! we just went thru this mess. def go with a partner, saved our butts. we used TechWizards (google em). theyre pros at migrations n got us sweet deals.
guard works fine w/ standard+premium for AD. but heads up, cloud migration’s a pain. do it slow, test lots.
good luck mate, hit me up if ya need more tips!
I’ve been through a similar situation with my company, and I can share what worked for us. We were hesitant about moving to the cloud at first, but it ended up being the best decision we made.
For licensing, we found working with an Atlassian Solution Partner to be incredibly helpful. They guided us through the process, helped us understand our options, and even got us some discounts. We chose a partner based on their experience with migrations similar to ours and their responsiveness during initial consultations.
Regarding Guard, it does work with both Standard and Premium for AD integration. We’re using it with Standard, and it’s been smooth sailing. However, if you need advanced automation, Premium might be worth the investment.
One thing to keep in mind: the migration process can be tricky, especially with that many users. Make sure you have a solid plan in place and consider doing it in phases if possible. It helped us minimize disruption to our workflow.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions about our experience.
