My Gmail integration with Outlook just broke out of nowhere. Yesterday everything was working fine, but now I’m not receiving any new Gmail messages in my Outlook client. I tried deleting my Gmail account from Outlook settings and setting it up again from scratch, but that didn’t fix the problem. None of today’s emails are showing up in Outlook, even though I can see them when I log into Gmail directly through the web browser. The issue goes both ways too - when I try to compose and send emails from Outlook using my Gmail account, those messages won’t go through either. Has anyone else experienced this kind of sync problem between Gmail and Outlook recently? I’m not sure what else to try at this point.
Had the same issue recently - it’s probably Google’s app password thing. Outlook might still be trying to use your regular Gmail password instead of an app-specific one. If you’ve got two-factor authentication turned on, you’ll need to generate a dedicated app password for Outlook through your Google security settings. Also check if Google sent you any alerts about blocked sign-in attempts - they sometimes block what they call ‘less secure’ email clients. The timing makes me think Google just updated their security stuff, which would explain why it broke suddenly.
gmaills IMAP settings prbly got scrambled. First, check if IMAP is still on in your Gmail settings - Google sometimes disables it randomly during security updates. If that’s fine, try ditching Outlook’s auto setup and go manual. Use imap.gmail.com as the server. My friend had the same issue last week and this fixed it.
Yeah, this screams OAuth authentication problems - they’ve been everywhere lately. Your connection token between Gmail and Outlook probably expired or got corrupted, even though everything looks fine on the surface. Had the exact same thing happen a few weeks ago. Here’s what fixed it for me: clear Outlook’s credential cache completely, then re-add the account. Go to Windows Credential Manager, delete any Gmail/Google entries you see, restart Outlook, and set up the account fresh. Also check if Outlook needs an update - Microsoft’s been constantly tweaking authentication to match Google’s security changes. Since both sending and receiving died at once, it’s definitely authentication, not server sync issues.
