So apparently not wanting invasive AI features makes me crazy

I’m getting really frustrated with how people react when I say I don’t want AI stuff all over my device. Like seriously, why is it so weird to prefer keeping my phone simple without all these smart features watching everything I do?

Every time I mention that I’d rather turn off voice assistants and predictive text, people look at me like I need help. I just want my device to work without constantly analyzing my behavior and suggesting things.

Is it really that strange to value privacy over convenience? Why does choosing to avoid these intrusive technologies make people think something is wrong with me? I feel like I’m the only one who sees this as a reasonable preference instead of some kind of problem.

Yeah, I’ve seen this too. These companies have gotten really good at making AI features seem like must-have upgrades instead of optional extras. Your frustration makes total sense - there’s real pressure to just accept this stuff as normal. What pisses me off most is how hard they make it to turn these features off. Settings buried three menus deep, confusing toggles, or sometimes no real opt-out at all. I’ve spent hours researching how to stop basic data collection on my own devices. The weird looks happen because most people haven’t thought about how all this monitoring adds up. They see each feature as harmless without realizing they’re slowly being surrounded by surveillance. Wanting a simple, private device isn’t weird at all.

You’re not alone. I get the same reactions when I disable location tracking or opt out of data collection. People act like you’re some luddite or conspiracy theorist just for not wanting every new tech feature. What bugs me most? These features keep becoming opt-out instead of opt-in. Companies know most people wouldn’t choose them if they had a real choice upfront. Having to actively disable these systems shows whose interests they really serve. The social pressure comes from how normal constant connectivity and data sharing has become. People got so used to trading privacy for tiny conveniences that questioning it seems weird to them. But wanting control over your device and data is completely rational.
