Spain experiences nationwide Twitch outage following LaLiga anti-piracy measures

I just noticed that Twitch seems to be completely inaccessible across Spain today. From what I understand, this is connected to LaLiga taking action against streaming piracy. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I was in the middle of watching my favorite streamers when everything just stopped working. My internet connection is fine and other streaming platforms work normally, but Twitch won’t load at all. I tried using different browsers and even restarted my router, but nothing helps. Is this really a country-wide block, or could there be something wrong with my specific connection? I’m curious if other Spanish users are facing the same problem and how long this might last.

Same blackout here in Seville since this morning. What’s really frustrating is how this shows how fragile centralized platforms are - one regulatory decision cuts off millions of users instantly. I work in tech and we’ve seen similar DNS blocks during legal disputes before. The irony? Actual pirates probably have VPNs already, so they’re least affected. Meanwhile legitimate users, small streamers building audiences, and people just wanting entertainment after work get screwed. Spain’s telecom setup makes these blanket blocks way too easy for authorities without thinking about collateral damage. From previous cases I’ve tracked, this usually takes 3-5 days to resolve if LaLiga and ISPs can work out more targeted solutions.

same here in valencia - twitch has been down all morning. my roommate thought our wifi was bugging out again lol. this is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut though. regular users get screwed while pirates just find new workarounds anyway.

Same issue here in Barcelona. This is killing content creators who rely on Twitch to pay bills, not just casual viewers. I’ve been streaming for two years and today completely wrecked my schedule - my international viewers have no clue where I went. The timing’s terrible too. They could’ve done targeted blocking instead of nuking the whole platform. Looks like DNS-level blocking since VPNs still work, though I wouldn’t go that route for obvious reasons. Really hope telecom regulators step in and find something less extreme.

Yeah, this is happening everywhere. I’ve had the same issue in Madrid since this morning. It’s way too heavy-handed for fighting piracy - screws over regular users who just want to watch legit content while probably not stopping the actual pirates. I’ve missed all my favorite streamers today. From what I’ve seen in other forums, these blanket blocks usually get fixed in a few days, but nobody knows for sure. Really hope LaLiga and the ISPs figure out something better soon because this affects way more people than just the pirates.

This is exactly why I automate outage monitoring at work. We constantly deal with geo-blocking and ISP issues in our infrastructure.

The real problem isn’t just the outage - creators and viewers have zero backup plans. One platform dies, you’re screwed.

I built something with Latenode that monitors multiple streaming platforms and auto-switches when one goes down. It’ll even blast notifications to your audience on different social channels when your main platform craps out.

Viewers can set up automated checks too - tests platform availability and redirects you to backup content sources. Workflow runs every few minutes with real-time updates.

This Spain thing will probably fix itself in a few days, but having automation ready saves you from panic mode next time. I’ve watched too many creators lose momentum because they couldn’t pivot fast when platforms failed.
