Spotify warning users about account removal due to age verification issues

I recently learned that Spotify is notifying users that they may disable accounts if age verification is not completed properly. Has anyone else received these alerts? I’m curious about what they are specifically requesting and how serious this warning is. Do they really go ahead and delete accounts, or is it merely a tactic to encourage users to update their information? I’ve maintained my account for many years without needing to verify my age. What type of verification process are they now implementing, and what documentation is required? I’m also interested to know if this issue is affecting users globally or only in certain regions. I would be devastated to lose all my playlists and saved music over this. Does anyone have advice on how to tackle this issue?

Same thing happened to me three months back when Spotify flagged my account. I thought they were bluffing at first, but after ignoring a few emails, they actually locked me out temporarily. The verification was pretty easy though - just uploaded a driver’s license photo and got approved in two days. Seems like they’re mainly targeting accounts in Europe and certain US states where there are stricter age verification laws. Don’t put it off once you get that first email - they definitely ramp up enforcement if you keep ignoring them. All my playlists and saved music stayed put, so you don’t need to worry about losing your stuff.

totally getcha, it’s kinda nerve-racking but they gotta do what they gotta do. verifying age was quick for me too, just a photo of my ID and boom! don’t stress, once it’s done your playlists are safe!
