Spotify warns users about account removal for age verification issues

I came across some news stating that Spotify might delete user accounts if they fail to complete the age verification process. This seems important, yet I haven’t come across much discussion surrounding it.

Could someone clarify what prompts this verification? Is it random or based on certain criteria that leads Spotify to request age confirmation? Moreover, how much time do users have to finalize this verification before facing account deletion?

I’m also worried about what will happen to playlists, saved music, and premium subscriptions if an account is indeed removed. Has anyone navigated this verification process? What documents were required, and how long did you wait for approval?

It seems like this could impact many users who may not even realize this requirement exists until it’s too late.

totally get ya, tom! it’s all about legal stuff, spotify needs to make sure we’re old enough. if they think ur under 13 or see somethin odd, they’ll request ur iD. usually a month is what i heard, just don’t hold me to it!
