Text fill color missing in Figma - all text appears transparent

I ran into a weird issue with Figma where all my text elements suddenly lost their fill color. This happened while I was duplicating some objects using the Alt key. Now every text element shows up as transparent or outlined instead of having a solid fill.

What’s really frustrating is that this problem carries over to completely new projects too. When I create fresh text elements, they still appear without any fill color. I can modify the font family and change between different weights like Bold or Light, but the text always remains transparent.

I’ve tried undoing my actions all the way back to the beginning of my project, but the issue persists across everything. This seems like it might be a software glitch. Does anyone know how to reset the text fill back to normal solid black?

yep, that happens sometimes. make sure to check the layers panel too, maybe somethings turned off. good luck getting it back to normal!

Had this exact issue on a complex interface project. Figma grabbed a text style with zero opacity when I duplicated something. Check your text properties panel - my opacity was at 0% instead of 100%. Fixed it instantly by bumping it back to full opacity. Also check if you’ve got stroke applied instead of fill - that’ll give you the outlined look you’re seeing. Since it’s happening in new projects too, Figma probably cached these settings as your default text properties.

It seems that your default text style might have been altered during the duplication process. Figma could have saved a transparent fill as the default setting, which is why the issue appears in new projects as well. To resolve this, create a new text element, set the fill color to black or your preferred color, and then right-click on the text layer to select ‘Set as default.’ This should help reset your settings. If the problem persists, consider clearing your browser cache or restarting the desktop application.

This sounds like a corrupted default style from when you duplicated something. Had the same issue a few months back - here’s what fixed it for me. Grab the text tool and check the properties panel on the right. Look for a small reset icon or just manually switch the fill back to solid black. The trick is doing this BEFORE you create new text elements, not after. Figma sometimes gets stuck with whatever settings were active from your last action. If the reset doesn’t work, try logging out completely and back in - that’ll refresh the cached defaults that might be screwing with your projects.

def a glitch! try looking at the fill settings in the properties panel, i had the same issue & just had to raise the opacity slider. hope that helps!
