Hey everyone! I’m having trouble with Figma’s text justification feature. I’m trying to make my text stretch across the full width of my text box, but when I select the justify alignment option, nothing happens. The text just stays left-aligned instead of spreading out evenly across the entire width.
I’ve tried selecting different text layers and even created new text boxes, but the justify option seems to be completely broken. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a specific way to enable text justification that I might be missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really need to get this working for my current project.
hey, I had this prob too! try adding more text or resizing your box a bit. justification needs enough content to work right, otherwise it just stays left. hope that helps!
Yeah, this tripped me up at first too. Figma’s justify alignment only works with multiple lines of text - it does nothing on single lines, no matter how wide your text box is. It spreads out the spacing between words on each line but always leaves the last line left-aligned. You need at least two full lines with multiple words each to see it work. If your text is short and only fills one line, try making your text box narrower to force line breaks, or just use center alignment instead for better balance.
Had this same issue last month on a client presentation. It happens when your text doesn’t fill enough of the text box width - Figma’s justify feature needs enough content and spacing to distribute text evenly. Try making your text box way wider or adding more words. Also make sure you’re selecting the whole text layer, not just part of it. Single lines or really short text won’t justify no matter what you do. It works best with paragraph-length stuff that creates multiple spacing opportunities across the width.
