Unable to locate portfolio creation option in updated Jira UI

I’m having trouble finding the portfolio feature in the new Jira interface

I just started using Jira and I’m looking at the updated dashboard but I can’t seem to locate where to set up a new portfolio. I’ve been clicking around different menus and sections but nothing seems obvious.

As someone who’s still learning the platform, I’m probably overlooking something basic. The interface looks different from what I expected based on some tutorials I watched.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I need to create a portfolio to organize multiple projects but I’m stuck at this first step.

Any guidance would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

yeah, I was confused by this too after upgrading. check the top nav bar for “Roadmaps” - they moved all the portfolio stuff there in the new UI. if it’s not there at all, your plan probably doesn’t include it like sofiag said. also check if your admin gave you permissions to create portfolios.

Yeah, Atlassian loves moving stuff around with every update - super confusing. If you’ve got the right license but can’t find Roadmaps or Plans, try hitting the URL directly: add ‘/secure/PortfolioHub.jspa’ to your Jira base URL. Sometimes menu items just don’t show up because of browser cache or permission delays. Also check if your org has custom navigation settings. I’ve seen company admins mess with the interface and accidentally hide portfolio features even when the license covers it.

Portfolio isn’t available in all Jira editions - that’s probably why you can’t find it. You need Jira Software Premium or Enterprise to get Advanced Roadmaps for portfolios. If you’ve got the right subscription, look under ‘Plans’ in the main nav (they renamed it from ‘Portfolio’ which trips everyone up). Double-check your subscription includes this feature in admin settings before digging deeper.
