I’m really confused about something with Instagram messaging. I used to be able to send those animated GIFs from Giphy when chatting. You know, the funny moving pictures that made conversations fun. But now, when I go to send a message, I only see these odd sticker options that don’t look great. Did Instagram get rid of the GIF feature? I can’t find it anywhere in the message options. The stickers now are not as cool as the animated GIFs we used to have. Has anyone else noticed this change? I miss searching for and sending those funny animated images. Does anyone know if they moved the GIF option or if it’s gone for good?
Yeah, Instagram ditched Giphy for their own sticker system. Hit the same wall when we were doing marketing stuff at work.
Those animated stickers are Instagram’s knockoff GIFs - way worse selection than Giphy had. You’ll find some in the sticker menu but it’s pretty bare.
Here’s what works: save GIFs to your camera roll and send them as videos in DMs. Quality takes a hit but gets the job done.
Basically Instagram wanted more control and didn’t want to pay Giphy anymore. Classic move - worse for us, cheaper for them.
