What happens when artificial intelligence eliminates 85 million positions?

This situation is completely different from past technological changes. It’s not like when computers replaced some manual tasks but people still had roles to play.

This time we’re looking at something bigger. AI systems don’t get tired, don’t need breaks, and don’t ask for paychecks. They can work around the clock without the basic needs that humans have.

I know AI technology still has flaws and limitations. But think about what happened with computer systems in offices. Before everything went digital, companies hired tons of bookkeepers and data entry workers. After computers took over, only the most skilled financial experts kept their jobs.

The same pattern will probably happen again. There will still be work available, but it will demand very advanced skills and training. Getting these positions will be extremely competitive.

So my question is: what are all the displaced workers supposed to do for income and survival?

we’re totally overthinking this. sure, 85 million sounds huge, but new jobs always replace the old ones. twenty years ago, nobody thought we’d need social media managers or app developers. the economy adapts and creates opportunities we can’t even picture yet.
