I’m working on a project where I need to pull data from various external sources into our Jira instance. This includes stuff like our company database, CRM systems, Excel files, and other third-party platforms.
What I’m trying to figure out is how you all approach this challenge. When you need to sync external information with Jira, what factors help you pick the right method?
From what I’ve researched, there seem to be several ways to handle this:
- Using Jira’s built-in Assets functionality
- Going with third-party connectors like Elements Connect or similar data integration tools
- Building custom solutions with ScriptRunner or developing your own scripts
I know the classic answer is “it depends on your use case” but I’m hoping to get some real-world examples. What made you choose your current approach? Were there specific requirements or limitations that pushed you toward one solution over another?
