Which minor Ableton feature or hotkey completely transformed how you work?

Looking for those little-known features or keyboard shortcuts that might seem trivial at first but end up being total game changers. You know what I mean - the kind of stuff that once you learn it, you wonder how you ever managed without it. I feel like there are probably tons of these hidden gems in Ableton that could speed up my production process, but I keep missing them. Whether it’s a specific key combination, a workflow habit, or just a different way of approaching something basic, I’d love to hear what small discoveries have made the biggest impact on your music making. Even the most basic tips could be exactly what I need to hear right now.

Shift + click mixer faders to instantly reset them to 0db. Sounds dumb but I used to drag every fader back or manually type values. Now when my mix gets messy, I just shift-click and everything snaps back perfectly. Works on sends, EQ knobs, basically any parameter. Lifesaver when your mix goes sideways and you need quick resets.

Cmd+D (or Ctrl+D) for duplicating clips was a game changer for me.

I wasted years copy-pasting clips or dragging them with Alt held down. Someone finally showed me this shortcut and it clicked instantly. Select any clip, hit Cmd+D - boom, perfect duplicate right next to the original.

The real magic happens with multiple selections. Grab clips across different tracks, hit Cmd+D, and they all duplicate in perfect sync. Amazing for building song sections or extending patterns.

I use this 50+ times per session now. Seems obvious once you know it, but I somehow missed it forever. Makes arrangements way faster than dragging and dropping everything.

Tab to transients changed everything for me. Hit Tab in any audio clip and the playhead jumps straight to the next transient or peak. Add Shift+Tab to go backwards and you’ve got surgical precision through drums, vocals, whatever.

I used to zoom way in and click around hunting for exact hit points. Now I just Tab through and nail perfect edits in seconds. Perfect for chopping breaks, cleaning vocals, or finding exactly where that snare hits. Saves me tons of time on detailed editing.

The Consolidate function is a game changer. I used to bounce stems manually and reimport them whenever my CPU was dying or I wanted to lock in my processing chains. Then I found out you can just select any clip (or multiple clips), right-click, hit Consolidate, and Ableton renders everything instantly right in place. It flattens all effects and automation into a new audio file without moving anything in your arrangement. Super useful when you’ve got a heavily processed synth line killing your CPU, or when you don’t want to accidentally mess with something that sounds perfect. I use this daily now - it’s saved me tons of time from those annoying export-import loops. Simple feature that completely changed how I work.
