I recently began creating Discord bots and I’m seeking ideas from board games that could successfully be made into bots. I’m currently developing one for Coalition: Councils of the Republic, a social negotiation game. I also believe that games like Blood on the Clocktower would adapt nicely into Discord bots due to their social deduction aspects. However, I’m eager to find more options and discover other engaging tabletop games that would serve as fun bot projects. What board games do you think would be enjoyable to create as Discord bots? I’m especially looking for games that feature player interaction, voting, or turn-based mechanics, as these elements would work great in a Discord server setting. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
i think Codenames could be awesome too! the interactions and clues would work well in a discord setup. you could also consider games like Secret Hitler, it’s all about communication and deception, which fits the bot format perfectly. let the games begin!
Mafia’s still the go-to for Discord automation. Day/night cycles work perfectly as bot commands, and voting’s easy to code. The best part? Bots can DM roles privately without exposing anyone’s identity. I helped test a Mafia bot last year - felt surprisingly real. Beyond social deduction, try adapting Telestrations with image uploads. Players draw and DM submissions, then the bot shuffles everything for guessing rounds. Works great across time zones since it’s async. For strategy lovers, simplified King of Tokyo translates well - just need dice rolling and power-up tracking.
One Week Ultimate Werewolf works great on Discord. The timed phases and role reveals build tension naturally, and bots handle the automation perfectly. I’ve seen it done - the voting’s easy to program. The Resistance: Avalon’s another solid pick. Quest selection and approve/reject voting are simple to code while keeping all the backstabbing fun. Bots can assign missions and track loyalty without spoiling anything. For something different, try Spyfall. The location guessing works awesome in text channels, and you can use DMs for final guesses. The timer keeps things moving fast.
