I’m reading through Miro Samek’s book about UML Statecharts implementation in C and C++. The diagrams in this book look really clean and professional. I want to create similar looking state machine diagrams for my own project documentation.
Does anyone know what drawing software or diagramming tool the author used to make these statecharts? I’ve tried a few different programs but can’t get the same polished look. The diagrams have nice rounded corners and the text formatting looks very neat.
I’m particularly interested in recreating the style shown in the sample diagrams from chapter examples. Any suggestions for tools that can produce similar quality state machine diagrams would be helpful.
for sure dude, visio is the way to go! i tried it too and it gives a nice polished vibe to statecharts. def recommend it for that clean finish you’re lookin for.
Pretty sure Samek used Microsoft Visio for those diagrams in his UML Statecharts book. The professional look and consistent formatting screams commercial tool, not basic drawing software. Visio was huge with technical authors back then and gives you that precise control over rounded corners and text formatting you’re talking about. The stencils and templates would explain why all the diagrams look so standardized. If you want alternatives, try Lucidchart or draw.io - they’ll get you close, but Visio’s your best bet for nailing that exact look.
