Why is Google Analytics so complicated now?

I’m really struggling with the new Google Analytics interface. It feels like they made everything way more confusing than it used to be. All I’m trying to do is find one basic piece of information - how to track the bounce rate for a specific page and see how it changes over different time periods. This should be straightforward but I keep getting lost in all the menus and options. Has anyone else noticed how difficult it is to get simple metrics now? I remember the old version being much easier to navigate. Can someone walk me through this step by step?

Yeah, GA4 sucks. Google scrapped everything and started over.

They completely changed bounce rate. Now it’s “engaged sessions” and they flipped it - shows engagement instead of bounces. You’ve got to calculate bounce rate yourself: 100% minus engagement rate.

Go to Reports > Engagement > Pages and screens. Pick your page, add “Engaged sessions per user.” That’s your engagement rate.

Date picker’s top right. Hit “Comparison” to compare periods.

I’ll be honest - I still use old Universal Analytics for quick stuff. GA4 has more data but takes forever to find anything basic.

You’ll get used to it once you accept everything moved. But it’s definitely not user-friendly.
