I’m really hoping that OpenAI will add direct Zapier integration to the ChatGPT Connectors feature. It would be so convenient if all my existing Zapier automations could be accessed directly through ChatGPT instead of having to set up separate integrations. Right now I know you can connect ChatGPT to Zapier through their platform, but what I really want is the opposite - being able to use all my current Zapier workflows directly from within ChatGPT. This would make the Connectors feature incredibly powerful since most of us already have tons of automations set up in Zapier. Has anyone heard any news about this kind of integration being planned?
totally feel you! integrating zapier would make life way easier. managing multiple platforms is such a hassle, right? i just hope they realize the need for it soon, more options mean we all benefit!
From what I’ve seen, OpenAI’s focusing on their GPT Actions framework instead of building direct integrations with platforms like Zapier. Their setup lets you create custom connections through API endpoints, which actually gives you more flexibility than a hardcoded Zapier integration. I haven’t seen any official announcements about native Zapier support, but you could trigger your existing Zaps through webhook endpoints if you set them up right. The catch? It needs more technical work than the seamless experience you’re after. Given how popular Zapier is, I wouldn’t be surprised if they add it as a first-party connector eventually. But they’re probably prioritizing their own ecosystem first.
I’ve been experimenting with workarounds for this same issue. While there’s no native integration yet, I managed to get it working by setting up custom GPT Actions that interface with Zapier webhooks directly. It functions, although not flawlessly, for triggering existing workflows. The main drawback is losing Zapier’s dynamic data mapping, one of its core strengths, leading to more hardcoding of parameters. OpenAI appears to be concentrating on developing its own tools rather than collaborating with third-party automation platforms. However, given Zapier’s large user base and the demand for integration, it’s likely they will consider it at some point. The real question remains whether we will see an authentic integration or merely improved webhook capabilities.
