Accessing related database column information in Notion?

I’m setting up a medical appointment tracker in Notion after moving from Google Sheets. I’ve got two databases: ‘Medical Centers’ and ‘Appointments’. The ‘Medical Centers’ database has an ‘Address’ column. In my ‘Appointments’ database, I’ve linked it to ‘Medical Centers’, but it only shows the center’s name.

How can I display the address from ‘Medical Centers’ directly in my ‘Appointments’ view without clicking through? In Google Sheets, I used VLOOKUP for this. I’ve tried filters and creating a middle database, but no luck. Any ideas on how to pull this off in Notion?

Really hoping someone can help me figure this out! It would make my appointment tracking so much smoother.

Hey MarkSeeker91, I’ve been using Notion for medical tracking too and ran into the same issue. Here’s what worked for me:

Use rollup properties in your Appointments database. Create a new rollup property, link it to your Medical Centers database, and select the Address column. This should display the address right in your Appointments view without extra clicks.

A tip: Make sure your relation between Appointments and Medical Centers is solid. If it’s not working, double-check that first. You might need to tweak the rollup settings to get it just right.

It took me a bit to get used to, but now it’s way more efficient than my old spreadsheet system. The rollup feature in Notion is pretty powerful once you get the hang of it. Good luck with your appointment tracker!

Hey MarkSeeker91, I’ve dealt with a similar issue before. Rollup properties are definitely the way to go here. In your Appointments database, create a new rollup property that links to your Medical Centers database. Choose the Address column as the property to display. This should show the address directly in your Appointments view without any extra clicking.

One thing to keep in mind: make sure your relation between Appointments and Medical Centers is set up correctly. If you’re having trouble, double-check that link first. Also, you might need to play around with the rollup settings to get it displaying exactly how you want.

This method has worked great for me in tracking multiple locations for my business appointments. It’s not quite as straightforward as VLOOKUP in Sheets, but once you get it set up, it’s really powerful. Good luck with your medical appointment tracker!

hey markseeker91, i think rollup properties might do the trick for you. in your appointments database, add a new rollup property. link it to your medical centers db and choose the address column. this should display the address right in your appointments view without extra clicking. hope this helps!
