I’m working on a WordPress site and need to protect my contact forms from spam bots. I’ve been receiving a lot of fake submissions lately, which has become quite a hassle. I use Gravity Forms for my contact page and want to implement some form of CAPTCHA protection to prevent automated submissions.
I’ve heard that there are various CAPTCHA options out there, but I’m unsure which one is most compatible with Gravity Forms and how to set it up correctly. Has anyone successfully done this? I would greatly appreciate a step-by-step guide on configuring CAPTCHA for my forms. Thank you for any assistance!
Been running Gravity Forms with CAPTCHA for two years - it works. You’ve got options beyond Google’s version too. The built-in Really Simple CAPTCHA is solid if you want something basic. Shows image puzzles users solve manually. Not as smooth as invisible CAPTCHAs, but some people like seeing the security. Just drag the field into your form wherever you want it. Spam dropped 90% in my first week.
I’ve dealt with this before - Google reCAPTCHA v3 with Gravity Forms works great. Grab your API keys from Google’s reCAPTCHA console, then install the Gravity Forms reCAPTCHA add-on. Just plug your site key and secret key into the Forms settings. Love that v3 runs silently without bugging users. My spam dropped big time after I set it up, but legit submissions kept coming through fine. You can tweak the scoring threshold if you want, though the defaults usually work perfectly.
Cloudflare Turnstile works great with Gravity Forms. I switched last year because I got sick of Google’s data collection issues.
It’s free and way more privacy-friendly than reCAPTCHA. Users just click a checkbox - no puzzles or cross-site tracking.
Grab the Gravity Forms Turnstile plugin, install it, then get your site key and secret from your Cloudflare dashboard. Drop those into the plugin settings and add the Turnstile field to your forms.
I’m running it on three client sites now. Spam dropped 85% and zero complaints about annoying CAPTCHAs. Takes maybe 10 minutes to set up if you’ve got a Cloudflare account.
hCaptcha’s a solid alternative if you want something different. I’ve been using it for months - way less annoying than Google’s puzzles. It works with Gravity Forms through their official addon. Just register at hcaptcha.com, grab your keys, and paste them in. Takes about 5 minutes to set up and blocks most bots without frustrating real users.
