Alternatives for integrating Jira with Smartsheet without using the official connector?

Hey everyone, I need some advice on syncing Jira and Smartsheet. We use Jira for service requests but it’s getting hard to manage. I want to use Smartsheet to work better with other teams and assign tasks, but the official Jira Smartsheet Connector is way too pricey for us right now.

Does anyone know of other ways to link these two tools? Maybe some workarounds or third-party options? I’m open to any suggestions that could help us streamline our workflow without breaking the bank. Thanks in advance for your help!

I’ve been in a similar situation and found Zapier to be a game-changer for integrating Jira and Smartsheet. It’s not free, but it’s significantly more affordable than the official connector. With Zapier, you can set up automated workflows to sync tasks, update statuses, and even create new items in either system based on triggers you define. The setup takes some time, but it’s quite flexible once you get the hang of it.

Another option worth exploring is using Jira’s REST API directly. If you have some coding skills or access to a developer, you can create custom scripts to pull data from Jira and push it to Smartsheet. This method requires more technical know-how but gives you complete control over the integration and is essentially free apart from development time.

Both approaches have their pros and cons, but they’ve worked well for teams I’ve been part of in the past. Hope this helps point you in the right direction!

hey, have u tried google sheets as a middleman? its free and can sync jira and smartsheet. set up formulas or use apps script to automate transfer. might need some setup but could save u money. just a thought!

I’ve actually had success using IFTTT (If This Then That) for connecting Jira and Smartsheet. It’s not as robust as the official connector, but it gets the job done for basic syncing needs. You can set up applets to trigger actions in Smartsheet when certain events happen in Jira, like creating a new row when a Jira ticket is created.

Another option I’ve explored is using Microsoft Power Automate (formerly Flow) if your organization has access to it. It has connectors for both Jira and Smartsheet, allowing you to create custom workflows between the two platforms.

Both these solutions require some initial setup time and might have limitations compared to the official connector, but they’re cost-effective alternatives that could help streamline your workflow without a significant investment.
