Android users can now save scanned docs as JPEGs on Google Drive app

Hey everyone! I just found out something cool about the Google Drive app for Android. They’ve added a new feature that lets you save scanned documents as JPEGs. Before, we could only save them as PDFs.

This is pretty handy, right? I’m wondering if anyone else has tried it out yet. What do you think about having the option to save scans as JPEGs? Do you prefer this over PDFs for any specific reasons?

Also, I’m curious if iOS users have this feature too. If you’re using an iPhone, can you check and let me know?

It’s always interesting to see how these apps keep updating and adding new stuff. What other features do you think Google Drive should add next?

I’ve been using Google Drive’s scanning feature for years, and this JPEG option is a game-changer. Just last week, I needed to quickly scan and send some receipts to my accountant. The JPEG format made it so much easier for her to view them on her phone without downloading a PDF reader.

One thing I’ve noticed is that JPEGs tend to be smaller in file size, which is great for saving storage space on my Drive. However, for documents with lots of text, I still prefer PDFs for their clarity and searchability.

As for future features, I’d love to see some basic image editing tools built right into the scan interface. Sometimes I need to crop or adjust brightness on the fly, and being able to do that without switching apps would be incredibly convenient.

I’ve been experimenting with this new JPEG option, and it’s quite useful for certain scenarios. For instance, when I needed to quickly share a scanned recipe with my sister, the JPEG format was perfect - she could view it instantly on her phone without any hassle.

However, I’ve noticed that for documents with fine print or intricate details, PDFs still offer better quality and zoom capabilities. It’s really about choosing the right format for the task at hand.

One feature I’d like to see added is the ability to batch convert existing PDF scans to JPEG. This would be incredibly helpful for organizing older documents. Also, an option to adjust compression levels for JPEGs would be beneficial for balancing file size and image quality.

thats pretty cool! i’ve been using the scan feature a lot lately for work stuff. jpegs are def easier to share and view quickly on phones. wonder if theyll add more file types soon? maybe png or tiff options? anyways, good to know about this update!
