Anyone currently employed at Shopify?

I just got a job offer from Shopify and I’m trying to decide whether to accept it or not. I’m hoping to connect with people who work there now or have worked there recently to get some honest feedback about the company culture and work environment.

The position I’m considering is in customer support with some sales responsibilities. I’m particularly curious about things like work-life balance, team dynamics, growth opportunities, and overall job satisfaction. What has your experience been like? Are there any red flags I should know about or positive aspects that really stand out?

I worked at Shopify in a similar role 8 months ago. They’ve got a solid learning culture and you can definitely move between departments if you’re proactive about it. Training programs are decent and quotas are more reasonable than other places I’ve been. Heads up though - support roles are becoming more sales-heavy lately. You’ll be doing way more upselling than actual support work. Work-life balance really depends on your team and manager, but most people I knew kept decent boundaries. Remote work’s flexible, though they’ve changed policies a few times. Best parts were the collaborative vibe and tons of professional development resources. Pay’s competitive, benefits are above average. Just know it’s fast-paced and priorities shift constantly as they scale up.

6 months in customer success here. culture’s solid - ppl actually help each other instead of being cutthroat. management flip-flops on direction constantly tho, which gets annoying. remote work’s smooth, but you’ll pull long hours when things get crazy. growth opportunities exist if you’re vocal about ur goals.

I’m in my second year here, different team but also started in customer support. Onboarding’s pretty solid - they give you time to get comfortable before cranking up expectations. Fair warning though, the pace hits hard at first. There’s a ton of systems to learn and the product changes constantly, so you’re always adapting. Sales is creeping into most support roles now, varies by team. Remote setup’s great and they don’t cheap out on equipment. You can move up but you’ll need to push for it. People are collaborative and actually help new folks out. Pay’s fair for the market and they’re upfront about comp bands. Biggest pain is the constant org changes as they scale - creates a lot of uncertainty. Overall it’s been good but expect typical growing company chaos.

Your experience depends on your team, but most managers are reasonable about workload. That support-to-sales transition is real - you’ll hit revenue targets on top of regular support metrics. What surprised me: processes change fast. What you learn in training might be totally different six months later. Benefits are solid and they’re upfront about pay ranges. You’ll do fine if you handle ambiguity well and adapt quickly. People genuinely care about the product and customers, which beats most corporate jobs.
