Are there any real alternatives to Figma coming soon?

I’ve been using Figma for my design work and while it’s really good at what it does, I’m getting frustrated with their pricing model. It feels like they’re not being transparent about costs and it’s getting expensive for what I need.

I’m wondering if anyone knows about other design tools that might compete with Figma in the near future. It seems like having some real competition would force them to be more reasonable with their pricing.

Has anyone heard about new design platforms being developed that could actually challenge Figma’s dominance? I’m curious why there aren’t more companies trying to compete in this space when so many designers are looking for better options.

From what I’ve observed in the industry, the barrier to entry for competing with Figma is massive. Building a design tool that matches their real-time collaboration, plugin ecosystem, and performance requires enormous investment and years of development. Most startups can’t sustain that kind of commitment. That said, Adobe has been pushing XD harder lately and Sketch is trying to regain ground with their web platform. Penpot is also worth watching as an open-source alternative, though it’s still rough around the edges. The reality is that even if something promising emerges, it takes time to build the community and integrations that make a design tool truly viable for professional work. I switched from Sketch to Figma years ago and remember how painful those transitions can be, so I’m hesitant to jump ship again unless there’s something genuinely better.
