Just wanted to warn everyone about my experience with Elgin air conditioning units. I bought an Elgin Eco Inverter 12000 BTU model and it’s been nothing but trouble since last year.
The unit makes this horrible grinding noise that vibrates through the entire room. It’s so loud you can’t sleep. I sent it to their authorized repair shop and they returned it with the same problem. They tried to fix it by putting some foam padding on the grille but it didn’t help at all.
The repair work was really sloppy too. They left wires hanging outside the plastic cover and the whole thing looks unprofessional. I’m trying to get my money back but the company keeps giving me the runaround.
From what I understand these units aren’t even made by Elgin. They just import parts from Chinese manufacturers and assemble them here. Save yourself the headache and buy a different brand.
