I’m running two Shopify Plus stores (one for retail, one for wholesale) and we just started using HubSpot as our main CRM system. The platform has tons of features but I’m struggling to figure out the right way to set everything up.
Does anyone have recommendations for the best way to get started with HubSpot when you’re coming from Shopify? Which features should I focus on first to see quick wins, and what can I skip until later?
My biggest challenge right now is handling our wholesale clients who have multiple store locations. On Shopify we use a structure where each business has several locations under it, and each location has its own customers. I can’t figure out how to set up the same thing in HubSpot.
Has anyone solved this problem of managing multi-location businesses in HubSpot while keeping everything synced with Shopify data? Right now my sales team has to jump between both platforms to get their work done, even though we have the integration running.
Had the same nightmare when we moved our dual-store setup to HubSpot last year. The game-changer was treating it like a data mapping problem instead of trying to make HubSpot copy Shopify’s structure exactly. We built separate deal pipelines for retail vs wholesale, then got creative with the company hierarchy feature. Instead of strict parent-child setups, we made custom contact views grouped by business name and location tags. The lightbulb moment? Using HubSpot’s contact association tools to create virtual groupings that worked for our sales process, even if they didn’t match Shopify’s backend perfectly. No more platform jumping since our team could see everything in HubSpot’s contact timeline. The reporting ended up being our biggest win once we got the mapping right.
totally get where ur coming from! we did similar, made the main biz a parent company and then each loc as child. linking contacts to their loc helps too. it’s a bit of work upfront, but once set, syncing with Shopify gets smoother!
We hit this exact problem 6 months ago moving from our old CRM to HubSpot. The wholesale multi-location thing was a nightmare. Here’s what worked: I created custom properties in HubSpot that matched our Shopify setup - added “Parent Business Name” and “Location ID” fields to contact records. Then used HubSpot’s association feature to connect all contacts from the same business. The game-changer was setting up automated workflows to tag and sort contacts based on Shopify data flowing through the integration. Took about two weeks to map everything right, but now our sales team sees the complete wholesale account picture without jumping between platforms. Reporting’s way cleaner too.
