I keep seeing this weird blue horizontal line that shows up in my Gmail inbox whenever I first open it. The line appears at the top left area near the first email message. It only happens when Gmail initially loads up. After I click on any email to read it and then go back to my inbox view, the blue line is gone and doesn’t come back until I refresh or reopen Gmail again. This happens every single time I start a new Gmail session. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this same visual glitch and knows what might be causing it or how to fix it permanently.
Sounds like a Gmail rendering glitch during page load. I’ve seen this before on Chrome/Windows - usually it’s hardware acceleration causing problems. That blue line is probably a CSS element getting positioned wrong before the page fully loads. Try turning off hardware acceleration in your browser’s advanced settings. Also check if you’re running any custom themes or dark mode extensions since they can mess with Gmail’s styling on startup. It fixes itself after you click around because that forces the page to finish rendering.
yeah, that blue line is super annoying! I thought it was just me. maybe it’s a bug in the css or something? hope they fix it soon, cause it’s rly not fun seeing that each time.
Had this exact problem two months ago. Browser extensions were messing with Gmail’s loading. Disabling my ad blocker temporarily fixed the blue line, but the real fix was clearing cache and cookies for Gmail specifically. Then I turned extensions back on one by one to find the culprit - turned out to be some old email extension that hadn’t updated in over a year. Deleted it and never saw the blue line again. Try incognito mode first to see if it still happens without extensions.
